WHY IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE
A table outside the business, among equals
A Peer Council brings together eight principals of financial services businesses from the same region, chosen to complement rather than compete with one another. It is not a networking group, a CPD event or a mastermind programme: it is a confidential, professionally facilitated forum for leaders who are ready to be challenged as owners, not only as advisors.

Every session is held under the Chatham House Rule, so what is said in the room stays in the room. Each council is facilitated by one of FI Consult’s partners, who holds the process so that the members can do the work.
HOW IT WORKS
Two formats, every month
HOW IT WORKS
The council session
The council meets in person, built around two structured Hot Seats in which the room thinks through a member’s real problem. The facilitator holds the process; the members hold the conversation.
HOW IT WORKS
The one-to-one session
Each member meets the facilitator online, for accountability on the previous month’s commitment, a focused theme, and one concrete commitment for the month ahead.
THE JOURNEY
Four phases, so that nothing important goes unexamined
Councils typically move through four phases. They guide the conversation rather than set a curriculum, and a council continues for as long as it serves its members.
I
Foundation
The owner’s true north, a profit and fee diagnostic, and the three priorities that come first.
II
Engine
Organisation design, process and systems, and a clear definition of the ideal client.
III
Growth
Marketing and positioning, business development, and referral architecture.
IV
Horizon
Sellability and succession, leadership legacy, and an annual strategic review.
“In one conversation, a member shared a structure that had averted a multi-million-rand CGT event for a client. That single insight covered the year’s membership many times over.”
