My Story
I stumbled into financial planning, like many in South Africa, unexpectedly. Over twenty-five years ago, while on the track to becoming a Chartered Accountant, I applied for what I thought was an accounting role, only to discover it was a service clerk position at an insurer — this serendipitous moment sparked my enduring passion for financial services.

I switched my accounting studies to one focused towards achieving the esteemed CFP® designation. I have taken on diverse roles throughout my career - from telephone sales and personal assistant to administration manager, tied financial adviser, para-planner, and lecturer. I also had the privilege of running my own financial planning practice.

Before departing from The Financial Planning Institute in November 2022, I served as the Head of the Policy Division for nine enriching years. In this role, I relished engaging with members and advocating for their interests with regulators and policymakers.

In my current role as the Co-Founder of FI Consult, I am continuing my mission to elevate financial planning to the stature of a recognised profession, though consulting to financial planning businesses to help them evolve to their next
